- interlaced Ls enclosing dateletter G for 1759-60, painter's mark of a scrolling N for François-Joseph Aloncle, Wilfrid Evill Collection Label

vase à compartiments of the third size, decorated with a blue bleu lapis ground reserved with exotic birds in landscapes painted by Aloncle, the reverse with gilded fruit and flower sprays, crack to base
Provenance
Bought from H.E. Backer Antiques, 19th February 1947 for £28.
Condition
There is a crack running for three-quarters of the length of the base, through the footrim at the front under the gilded right side of the cartouche. Around the same point on the footrim there is a small shallow chip to the gilded rim approximately 4mm wide (this is the only external sign of the damage). There is a very little minor rubbing to the gilded line around the front of the rim.

Catalogue Note
A pair of Sèvres flower troughs of the same shape, size and date are in the Jones Collection in the Victoria and Albert Museum, 754 and 754A-1882. They are decorated with a turquoise ground and peasant scenes after Teniers painted by Veilliard.
