  • interlaced Ls enclosing dateletter L for 1764, painter's mark M for Jean-Louis Morin, saucer with incised reversed S, cup with oo and another indistinct mark possibly uo

gobelet litron et soucoupe of the first size, decorated with a blue ground reserved with fishermen in harbour scenes painted by Morin, the ground richly gilded with laurel branches

Provenance

Purchased on commission by H.E. Backer Antiques, 4th November 1947 for £27.16s., formerly in the collection of Brigadier-General R.J. Cooper.

Condition

There are a few minute specks of wear to the enamels on the saucer. The gilded line around the deep well of the saucer and the exterior dents de loup have a little rubbing. There is a glaze chip to the rim of the cup to the left centre, approximately 4mm wide. The gilded line around the footrim of the cup has some wear to the right of centre.
