Catalogue Note

Alphonse-Henri Perin est le fils du portraitiste et miniaturiste Lié-Louis Périn-Salbreux. En 1822, Périn et le peintre lyonnais Alphonse Orsel partirent pour  Rome où ils restèrent neuf ans. Une autre version de notre tableau, comportant quelques variantes, a été exposée à l'exposition  Plein-air painting in Europe 1780-1850, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, 2004-2005, repr. p. 88
