Condition
To the naked eye:
The painting appears in overall good condition. Nice uniform facture. It has been properly relined. The painting has been put into a rectangle on the upper right corner.
Under UV lamp:
There are some small restorations in the background on the upper part. Small restoration in the bear of the man with the red drapery, on the face of the centurion on the right, under the feet of the man on the right.
Some small retouching in the white drapery, in the neck, on the shoulder and in the stretcher of the risen character.

Catalogue Note
Nous connaissons un autre tableau reprenant le même sujet peint par Eustache Le Sueur (Eglise Saint Roch, Paris). La composition de ce dernier est en hauteur, les personnages sont plus recentrés que sur notre tableau et la scène se situe dans un paysage de ruines. Malgré ces différences on remarque que l'artiste qui a travaillé sur notre tableau est influencé par le maître lorsqu'il peint sa composition. Il tient cependant à se démarquer en remaniant les différents éléments employés par Le Sueur.
