Condition

To the naked eye: The painting is in a fairly satisfactory state of conservation. It is painted on a panel made with three non cradled planks. There are some vertical slits overlong the panel on the red drapery and in the left arm of the Saint John. The painting needs restoration on the cradling. The painting is under a very dirty varnish. We remark some "deposits of painting" in the upper right corner, in the dark part and in the foliages, the painting has probably be close to a strong heat source. The painting is a bit wrap in the red drapery; there are worn places and retouchings in the sheep and the background. Under UV lamp: The painting is under a green thick varnish which has been cleaned in the sky and the skin. There are restorations along the slit previously mentioned, in the background and some slight retouching in the red draperies.
