The surface is slightly thin in places.
Some tiny dots of repaints scattered over the surface.
There is a small thin tear in the sky (restored).
Colours slightly darker than on illustration.

Catalogue Note
Dans une lettre datée du 21 octobre 2008, Jean-Jacques Fernier authentifie cette belle esquisse, qu'il date des années 1859 - 1862 et qu'il rapproche de la Fileuse bretonne, répertoriée au catalogue raisonné de Robert Fernier sous le numéro 254. Notre tableau pourrait avoir été peint soit durant l'été 1859, lors d'un séjour à Honfleur avec Charles Baudelaire, soit en Saitonge en été 1862.
