Cette vue du boulevard Montmartre montre la vie parisienne sur les grands boulevards à la fin des années 1820. Nous voyons à gauche du Théâtre des Variétés, les deux rotondes des panoramas, avant leur destruction en 1831. Cette vue était très appréciée de Canella qui en a fait plusieurs versions, l'une prise pratiquement du même angle était présentée à l'exposition Un panorama de Paris et ses environs, Galerie Kugel , Paris, 1996, p.108, n°41.
