Condition
Oil on canvas mounted on board. The surface is covered with a layer of varnish. The composition is in overall fine condition. There is a minor two inch abrasion to the canvas surface near the upper center edge of the painting, above the ship mast. This could be a tear that has been repaired. Under UV, pigment fluoresces in the sky area and the netting area at left and in some of the rocks below. Varnish prevents a conclusive analysis. Held in a gold painted wood frame. Unexamined out of frame.
