Catalogue Note

It is likely that lots 36 and 37 are in fact two of the three Graphic Impressions listed as nos. 110, 111 and 112 in the 1918 catalogue for Christian Brinton's Boris Anisfeld Exhibition. These compositions were inspired by the writing of Edgar Allen Poe and executed in St. Petersburg in 1905.

We would like to thank Charles Chatfield-Taylor, the artist's grandson, Robert Kashey of Shepherd & Derom Galleries, and Dr. Eckart Lingenauber and Dr. Olga Sugrobova-Roth, authors of the catalogue raisonné on the artist, for providing additional information.
