Condition

This painting has been recently restored and should be hung as is. The canvas has been lined. The paint layer is clean, varnished and retouched. It seems that the painting was originally made from two pieces of canvas joined vertically through the center. This join is stable because of the lining. The line is slightly visible, despite the restoration, but in the right light it should not be a visual concern. Restorations attend to this canvas join running vertically through the middle of the painting. In the remainder of the picture there do not appear to be any restorations and the painting is in very healthy and good condition. The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
