Catalogue Note

The enamel workshop at the Imperial Stroganoff School was founded after the adoption of a new charter in 1902. The reorganized program of study organized simultaneous training in practical and theoretical matters and resulted in an unusually creative period for students in the metal and enamels workshops. The offered lot demonstrates the skillful range of colors and effects that the workshop was able to achieve. See Sergei Fedunov, "Khudozhestvennyi metall Imperatorskogo Stroganovskogo uchilishcha nachala XX veka," Antikvariat, predmety iskusstva i kollekstionirovaniia 2008, no. 1-2: pp. 4-21.
