Catalogue Note
The Kasli Cast Iron Manufactory made several editions of Nikolai Lieberich's popular design of a young peasant girl on horseback in the late nineteenth and into the twentieth century. As the marks on this particularly fine cast indicate, this was one of the earliest and was manufactured between 1870 and 1880 when factory modeler V. Teplyakov was active. For more on this design and mark, see Z.G. Malaeva, Kasli: Khudozhestvennoe lit'e iz chuguna, Moscow, 2005, pp. 86, 150.
