the cover applied with a part-enamelled Imperial eagle, the dial with a photograph of Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna, engraved with presentation inscription to Vasili Orlov and dated 19 October 1896, numbered 39069, in original red leather presentation case, the lid with Imperial eagle

Condition

Very good condition. The surface with some wear. Currently in working order, but Sotheby's does not guarantee the watch movement. The leather case with time wear and scuffing.

Catalogue Note

Vasili Orlov was a prominent conductor and choirmaster.  A graduate of the Moscow Conservatory and a former pupil in Tchaikovsky's theory class, he was appointed Director of the Moscow synod school choir in 1901.
