the lid painted en plein after The Kiss of the Wave by Vasily Kotarbinsky (1849-1921) within a border of shaded cloisonné enamel foliate and geometric motifs on a blue ground, the reverse cast and enamelled with the arms of the Leslie family within a gilded cartouche, the border of further cloisonné enamel and cloison coils on vari-coloured grounds, cabochon sapphire thumppiece, gilt interior, 84 standard, Russian control mark L (Cyrillic) denoting objects for public sale
Condition
The painted scene of the lid in excellent condition. Small enamel losses to the borders of lid and base. Significant enamel losses to the coat of arms. Slight lid closure gap.
