Catalogue Note

Around 1910 the artists of the Imperial manufactory began experimenting with coloured enamels. They aimed to achieve a raised effect of the decoration by applying clear enamels over coloured patterns and highlighting the designs with gold and platinum. The artist responsible for the majority of these designs was R. Vilde, with P. Shmakov usually credited as the painter.
