the hardwood guards each applied with a chased gold caduceus bearing a medallion of translucent pink enamel over sunburst engine-turning, one applied with initial A, the other with Roman numeral XX, the silk leaf painted with a cluster of irises, the loop formed as a two-headed snake, the hinge terminals set with green chalcedony cabochons, struck with workmaster's initials, 56 standard, in original Fabergé wood case
Condition
Excellent condition, apart from some separation between the back and front of the leaf; some small spots; and minor fraying to the fabric edges. The wood case with time wear and warping, one clasp lacking.
