Condition

Original canvas which is a little loose on the stretcher. There are small chips of paintloss to the impasto on the central and upper part of the sky. The paint surface is slightly dirty. There are a few vertical cracks along the central and bottom sections on the canvas and a diagonal crack in the top right hand corner. UV light reveals areas of retouching to the bottom and the central section of the canvas. Held in a simple wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.

Catalogue Note

Son of the famous composer Sergei Prokofiev, Oleg Prokofiev studied in Moscow under Robert Falk and later moved to Great Britain. His works are held at the State Tretyakov Gallery, Leeds City Art Gallery, Zimmerly Museum, New Jersey and the Lemhbruck Museum of Sculpture.
