Condition

The canvas has been laid down onto board, which is a little warped at the top. The paint surface is dirty and there is a layer of yellowed varnish. There are small chips of paintloss visible in places to the inner frame edge and some larger areas of paint abrasion to the upper corners. There are fine lines of craquelure to the sitter's hair. An area of restoration is visible to the upper centre of the board, which is confirmed by examination under UV light. A few additional minor spots of retoration are visible elsewhere. Held in a gold painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
