Condition

The photography is slightly brighter than the work itself. It is on its original canvas. Under the naked eye, we can see one long restoration along the frame on the lower part and one restored loss (approx 1,5 x 6 cm) along the frame on the lower part, in the center toward the left. Three tiny restored losses are also visible in the sky and in the kiosk (visible on the photography). Several tiny restored losses and several tiny fleckings are scattered over the surface.

Catalogue Note

Elève d'Emile Loubon à Marseille puis de Constant Troyon à Paris, Brest participa au Salon de Paris de 1851 à 1896. A partir de 1855 il séjourna en Turquie. Ses vues de Constantinople et d'Asie Mineure sont peintes dans des tonalités claires et lumineuses et des couleurs vives et fraîches. Ses compositions équilibrées sont souvent rythmées par des architectures.
