chacun constitué d'une fine hampe en bois de section quadrangulaire, insérée dans une base de forme cubique en schiste, reposant sur quatre pieds réunis en arcature, le décor finement gravé en haut-relief de rinceaux floraux et peints en polychromie, les montants comprenant des cartouches inscrits en cursif, l'un donnant une dédicace et un autre indiquant une date [8?]13H./1408-9; trous d'origine en partie supérieure
Condition
The schist bases :
there are a few areas of repairs to the shist mainly on the borders and the top squared section.
There are red, white, blue and green paint traces from the original decoration.
The wooden shafts :
Brown patina
Usual wear to the wood mainly on the borders with very small chips
Traces of red paint due to the original decoration

The remarkable posts relate to one of the most important surviving Timurid works of art, namely a carved wood box in the Topkapi Saray Museum, Istanbul, made for Ulugh-Beg ibn Shahrukh (1394-1449) (see: LENZ, Th.
