with leaf-tip base border, applied with ribbon-tied swags linking rams' heads, the cover with beaded rim and wave border, chased with radiating acanthus around a scene of putti pulling a chariot, after the antique.

Catalogue Note
Very similar in style to the preceding lot, this box predates both the Westmorland service (1783) and the service in the Swedish Royal Collection (1779). It would thus seem to be the earliest example of Smith and Sharp using this Adam decoration on a toilet box.
