Description
- French School, 18th Century
- A Pair of Trompe L'Oeil Still Lifes, one with two drawings and draftsman's instruments, the other with two drawings, scissors and a glass bottle
- oil on canvas, a pair
Condition
Both of these canvases are relined. Both pictures are in overall very favorable condition. In both instances the majority of the restoration is limited to pin dot size retouches scattered throughout the composition, and within a couple areas of craquelure. In the composition with the glass bottle at lower right, there are more densely concentrated small retouches in the upper left corner. In the other work, a possible repaired puncture is found lower left, but is not disturbing to the naked eye. Both works may be hung in their current state. Both in carved painted gilt wood frames.
