Description

the ormolu-bound reversible rectangular top inlaid with mahogany and ivory to form a chessboard on one side and with tooled leather on the other, the recessed ebony-veneered gaming surface inlaid with natural and tinted ivory to form a backgammon well, the frieze decorated with marquetry all around and containing drawers released by a catch at the ends, raised on ormolu-mounted tapering square legs terminating in ormolu sabots cast with acanthus and resting on ormolu casters; together with 37 ebony and ivory gaming pieces.

Condition

The leather top with age cracks, scrathes and light surface dirt and spot stains. With minor scattered age and construction cracks to tulipwood. Ebony with scattered age cracks throughout. Ivory with scattered hairline cracks due to age. Wooden surfaces refinished and with very minor scattered restorations; not extensive. Ormolu with some rubbing, traves of oxidation and surface dirt. In good, restored condition.
