Catalogue Note
A nautical Cosway-style binding with two oval miniatures, a portrait of Nelson set in the upper cover of the first and a rendering of H.M.S. Victory set in the second volume, by Joy Stanley Ricketts. Dark-blue levant morocco, single-fillet border, three frames successively filled with gilt ropework, Greek key pattern, and a roll-tooled wave, the miniature surrounded by a single gilt rule, a garter star stamped at each corner, gilt-ruled turn-ins with anchors stamped at four corners, cream watered-silk doublures and endleaves, edges gilt.
