Catalogue Note
A charming Cosway binding with two large oval miniatures painted on ivory by C.B. Currie, one set in each cover. Red crushed morocco, double-fillet border, gilt-tooled bower of leaves and stamps draped around the miniatures, gilt-tooled leaves on the turn-ins, gray watered-silk doublures and endleaves, top edge gilt, by Rivière & Son, gilt-stamped on upper doublure "Miniatures by C.B. Currie," number 794 of the Cosway bindings according to a printed sheet signed by J.H. Stonehouse and C.B. Currie bound in, original pictorial wrappers (before application to boards) bound in, in a midnight-blue half-morocco slipcase.
