Catalogue Note

A handsome Cosway-style binding with 4 oval portrait miniatures after Gainsborough, painted on ivory and set in the upper cover. Red levant morocco, double-fillet border, parallel gilt line-and-dots and tiny scrollwork rules, the miniatures surrounded by plastic frames with embossed small flowers and a gold-tooled frame of small dots and circles, gilt edges, gilt-ruled turn-ins, red watered-silk doublures and endleaves, by the Chelsea Bindery, in a red half-morocco drop-box.
