The end section of one wing is restored, possibly partially made up. One section of the feathers of the crest, approximately 1x1/2 in., is restored. The branch and turquoise leaves are extensively restored with overspray extending around the stump.

Eberlein's work records for June 1737 note: "Einen Cacatu, eine halbe Ellen gross von Thon neugemacht"  [A cockatoo, half an Elle high, newly made in clay.] Carl Dauterman, The Wrightsman Collection, Vol. IV, p. 29, nos. 7A, B illustrates a pair of the same form and notes that Eberlein's models should not be confused with the earlier cockatoo models made by Kändler for the Japanese Palace in 1734, which are taller at 35 cm (13 3/4 in.). Examples of this earlier type are also illustrated by Carl Albiker, Die Meissner Porzellantiere, (1935), pl. XXVII, nos. 98 and 100.

A pair of ormolu-mounted cockatoos of the same model were sold at Sotheby's New York, Property from the Estate of Laurence S. Rockefeller, October 11, 2005, lot 195. Other similar unmounted examples were sold at Christie's London, October 7, 1996, lot 461 and at Christie's New York, March 18, 2005, lot 32.
