Description

  • leather, mahogany
  • height 35 in.; width 116 1/2 in.
  • 89 cm; 296 cm
of curved form, the padded backrest with scalloped and gadrooned backrail with ormolu and patinated bronze roundels cast with female and bearded male masks, the sides carved with swans and scrolling acanthus, raised on three lion's-feet legs in front and sabre legs in the back.

Condition

With scattered age and construciton cracks; not extensive. Some age cracks with restorations. Scattered further small restorations and infills; not extensive. Abrasions, dents and minor losses at corners, edges and carving. Lacking small section of moulding, approx. 4 in. in lenght, to lower section of one side. Center back leg with restored break. Ventral front leg with glue residue at joint, possibly from restoration of break or crack. Refinished. Leather upholstery with cracks and abrasions. Mounts with some rubbing, oxidaiton and surface dirt. In good, restored condition.
