Description

the shaped demilune marble top above a conforming frieze mounted with ormolu acanthus and fitted with one long drawer decorated with ormolu mounts cast with interlocking acanthus, the curved sides fitted with hinged compartments mounted to match the front drawer, raised on square supports decorated with trompe l'oeil marquetry imitating fluting and connected by a marquetry-inlaid undertier fitted with an ormolu gallery, raised on tapering tubular legs decorated with with trompe l'oeil marquetry imitating fluting and terminating in ormolu sabots.
Condition
Top incribed "Gustav..." under marble. The marble top with scattered small chips; most to back. Scattered age and construction cracks, most visible to veneer of undertier. Small scattered losses to veneer. Veneer of frieze with scattered plugged holes where original mounts used to be. Remounted, mounts with minor tracks of oxidaiton and surface dirt. Originally probably with mirrored black as indicated by plugged holes on back. In good overall condition.
