Description

the removable upper section with five compartments and fitted with an ormolu gallery cast with palmettes and flowers, the frieze fitted with two short and one long drawer mounted with interlacing ormolu circles centered by acanthus, raised on tapering fluted legs mounted with ormolu capitals and terminating in ormolu sabots.

Condition
Partially reveneered. Veneer with some buckling on back. Scattered minor abrasions and dents. Scattered minor age and construction cracks; not extensive. Minor old worm damage to underside. Legs originally probably straight and later recarved to current fluted form. Refinished. Remounted, mounts now with minor traces of oxidation and surface dirt; not extensive. Leather writing surface of later date and now with scratches. Alterations probably executed circa 1900. In good, restored condition.
