4to (12 3/8 x 10 in.; 314 x 254 mm). 22 pochoirs en texte in bright colors, including half-title, title and colophon designed by Fernand Léger, 6 reproduction of drawings by Léger with pochoir embellishments (excluding wrappers), 2 of which are double-page; minimal browning on the edges of a few leaves. Original wrappers with designs by Léger, glassine; minimal wear.
Copy 154 of 1200 copies on Lafuma (of a whole edition of 1225). Blaise Cendrars wrote the film scenario and Fernand Léger created the innovative brightly colored visual/verbal illustrations. La Fin du monde is recognized as one of the great illustrated books of the 20th century. It is also considered one of the finest pochoir illustrated books. It was published by Jean Cocteau.
