4to (7 1/8 x 5 1/2 in.; 180 x 140 mm). collation: A - D8, E6 = 38 leaves, woodcut title vignette of The Man of Sorrows and 36 full-page woodcuts by Duerer; light pen-and-ink effort to add a fig leaf to the image of "Adam and Eve," some spotting on title and occasionally in a few margins, mostly marginal worm punctures but sometimes affecting the lower right corner of some images, small stamped monogram "kv" [Kunstverein] in lower margin of title and of the verso of every leaf. 20th-century blindtooled calf, gilt-stamped Duerer monograms in center of each cover, blue-sprinkled edges, in a slipcase; rebacked with original spine laid down.
