Catalogue Note

The present commode, with its playful character, could have been conceived as part of a suite, which included a console table and a set of four armchairs decorated with a similar light blue colored ground (turned light green by the effect of the sandracca-varnish) and bright rose chinoiserie motifs that were sold Sotheby's London, December 16, 1998, lots 65 and 66.
