Catalogue Note
The present work is most likely a leaf from a sketchbook. The inscription at the bottom is that of Pierre-François Lehoux, a disciple of Gericault's and collector of his works. Lehoux often inscribed or marked those sheets he collected Lhx; the name Gericault was most likely added by Lehoux at the same time.
