each finely decorated in white slip on the front and reverse with classical figures allegorical of the Arts and Music within a gilt-edged oval panel on a deep cobalt blue-ground further decorated with an elaborate pattern of scrollwork, diaperwork and floral meanders, affixed on either side with a gilt-heightened scroll and lion's mask handle, the covers with gilt floral bud knops, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, impressed numeral 8 and incised K 111.
