the original wooden frame with the partial Rev. Fabbrica di S.Pietro in Vaticano studio del Musaico label, 2397 for the order number (numero d'ordine), 4000(?) for the price in lire (prezzo lire), Simonetti for the artist name, and ...del Montovans all in handwritten black ink, the reverse of the frame with a red wax seal.

Condition
The mosaic in good original condition. With the usual scratches to the black marble background. There are fillers in places but possibly from the artist's hand. The frame with scratches and chips to paint, visible in the catalogue illustration.
