the lid sumounted by a putto offering flowers, the body finely carved in the round with Manaeds drinking and feasting in front of an herm to the glory of Dionysus, the mounts embossed with fruiting and foliate swags, cover and base struck with Augsburg pseudo-hallmarks.

Condition

Overall in good condition. Traces of original gilding remain, interior retains gilding. Some yellowing to ivory and tarnishing to silver-gilt consistent with age and environmental effects. Traces of dirt to crevices consistent with age.
