the lid surmounted by a satyr with a female figure, the carved ivory handle with a nude female, the body carved in high relief with centaurs and nymphs embracing, base struck with German pseudo-hallmarks.
Condition
Overall in good condition. Tarnishing to silver mounts. Three vertical age cracks to carved ivory tankard body. Crack to base of handle approximately 3/4 of an inch long. Snake that wraps around shepard figure is missing its head. Small, scattered hairline cracks to ivory elements, consistent with age and use. Components of handle are not perfectly aligned and need to be unmounted and re-set. Surface dirt and some yellowing to ivory consistent with age, use and environmental effects.
