set on a bronze mounted brèche violette revolving marble pedestal, the back signed Prore Pietro Magni/Fet 1871/Milano.
Condition
The bust in overall good condition. Some minor discoloration to white marble bust which is consistent with age. Traces of dirt in crevices. Minute chip to nose. Loss to both earrings. The pedestal is also in overall good condition. Two cracks to the bottom of base show filler. Some tarnishing to bronze mounts,

Catalogue Note
Magni studied at the Accademia di Brera in Milan. In 1849 he sejourned in Rome to perfect his craft to return to his native Milan and realized in 1859 the monument dedicated to Leonardo de Vinci. He exhibited at the exhibition of Turin in 1854, Florence in 1861, Dublin in 1865 and London in 1851.
