Set on a pedestal titled WINTER and signed A. Bottinelli/Roma.
Condition
Overall good condition. The pedestal with the usual scratches and minor chips around edges. The ear of the bear hide cape that is draped over Winter has broken off, and is missing. Traces of dirt that can easily cleaned.
The bottom of the pedestal has a break to its edge. The marble pieces are available in a bag. This damage will be repaired at Sotheby's expense after the sale.

Catalogue Note
Bottinelli studied at the Accademia di Belle Arte di Milano, travelling to Rome in 1852 and then Paris in 1858 to continue his studies. He took part in the International Exhibitions in Paris in 1855 and in London in 1862, as well as those in Philadelphia, Vienna and Melbourne.
