The book by Henry de Montherlant, comprising 147 linoleum cuts printed in black and red, 18 hors-texte, 39 bandeaux, 6 culs-de-lampe and 84 lettrines, and one double-page linocut printed in blue for the wrappers, 1944, signed in black ink, numbered 165 (the total edition was 250), with title-page, text and justification, on Arches paper with the publisher's watermark, Martin Fabiani, Paris, contained in the original wrappers and linen and vinyl covered boards and slipcase
Condition
In good condition apart from scattered foxing, a few sheets with a soft handling crease. The blue wrappers worn at the spine, the boards and slipcase with surface soiling and wear at corners.
