Catalogue Note

According to Douglas Druick, the printer August Clot worked persistantly to closely match Cezanne's maquette for The Large Bathers. His efforts culminated in consistent color variations throughout the edition.  Consequently, "the Large Bathers thus emerges as a work whose experimental nature is seemingly without precedent in the Lithography Revival of the nineties."
