Condition

The print is in good condition, apart from scattered reverse fox marks in the lower quarter of the sheet, a 2 1/2 inch light surface scratch to left of woman's hair (touched-in?). The margins with faint mat stain, a few flattened handling creases, the right corners with a small area of damp stain at bottom and minor soiling at top. The sheet unevenly trimmed with a nick at top. The verso with additional faint mat stain.

The sitter in this image was Mathilde (Tulla) Larsen.  Munch and Larsen maintained an intimate relationship from 1898 until 1902, the year Munch produced Woman with Red Hair and Green Eyes.
