  • tobacco box: 8cm. diameter; 3¼in.
the handle in the form of a snake, together with an Italian ivory handled seal with an engraved partially illegible hardstone crest, circa 1860, together with an ivory and tortoiseshell painted tobacco box depicting the Plâce Madeleine, circa 1800 (3)

Condition

Letter opener; The snakes nose rubbed. The tortoiseshell with old marks and scratches from use. The seal; With a small crack to the top of the ivory handle and the agate crest cracked and fragmented to one side. The tobacco box: The lower section of the reverse decorated lid with loss of detail. The ivory box with fragmenting and cracks. The tortoiseshell interior with lifting.
