Catalogue Note
The tomb of Lucius Cornelius Scipio Barbatus (died 280 BC), was erected around 150 BC. Widely copied many times and produced as a model along with other ancient monuments, it was a particular favourite of those on the Grand Tour in the 18th and 19th century when models such as the offered lot were purchased as souvenirs.
