Condition

The flat support seems to consist of a single panel. However, as it has been painted on both sides it is difficult to be sure. The support has been slotted into/framed along the curved edge by a gold painted wood frame. The straight lower margin is unframed. Four horizontal splits are visible on both sides of the panel. The first two, spanning the breadth of the panel are across the top half of the panel. If you are looking at the recto side, the third split measures approx. 40cm. and extends from the lower right hand margin, the other measures approximately 15cm. and extends from the lower left hand margin. The paint surface on both sides is secure and under a thick, old varnish. The paint surface on the verso is more abraded than on the recto. Inspection under UV light reveals small scattered retouchings across both sides. No section is completely overpainted.
