Condition

This print is in generally very good condition. Upon close examination in high raking light, the following are visible: a one-inch linear impression that does not appear to break the emulsion in the upper right corner; and a 4½-inch linear impression that does not appear to break the emulsion in the upper left corner. Neither of these issues is immediately apparent. There is a miniscule loss of emulsion along the lower print edge. A few tiny deposits of retouching, likely original, that have turned a greenish-hue, are visible in the sky area. The mount is lightly yellowed at the periphery of the print. The edges of the mount are somewhat darkened, likely from contact with a previous wood frame. The reverse of the mount is stamped 'Display Print Not For Sale.' Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. The authors' assessment of the use dates of stamp 11 on the reverse of the print's mount is 1973 to 1977.
