mounted, signed in pencil on the mount, signed, titled, and dated in ink and with a Carmel studio stamp (BMFA 7) on the reverse, 1958, probably printed between 1963 and 1973 (400 Photographs, cover and p. 375; Ansel Adams at 100, pp. 104-5; Examples, p. 116)

Condition

This print is in generally excellent condition. Only visible in high raking light is a small starburst-shaped scratch in the central portion of the image, which does not appear to break the emulsion. This print is on a Schoellers Parole mount; the reverse is embossed with its trademark. Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. The authors' assessment of the use dates of stamp 7 on the reverse of the print's mount is 1963 to 1973.
