Description
- Carrie Mae Weems
- 'MADE FOR HIM, MADE FOR HER' (FROM THE AFRICA SERIES)
- chromogenic prints
a diptych, each framed and with etched text on glass, P. P. O. W. labels, with printed title, date, edition 'AP 1/2,' and one signed, and Museum of Modern Art Loan labels on the reverse, 1993 (2)
Condition
This diptych appears to be in generally excellent condition.
'Made for Him, She represented the perfect woman' (part 1) - In raking light, a few fine, light scratches are visible in the left-center area of the image. Two small scratches (1/2- and one-and-1/2-inch) are visible near the right-center edge; these appear to be scratches on the underside of the glass and do not effect the print. The typed loan number on the MoMA label on the reverse of the frame is '95.1036.a.'
'Made for Her, He represented the perfect man' (part 2) - The typed loan number on the MoMA label on the reverse of the frame is '95.1036.b.'
As the reverse of each framed photograph, bearing a MoMA loan label, indicates, this diptych was borrowed for possible exhibition in the 1995 show, 'Projects 52: Carrie Mae Weems' (October 1995 -- January 1996). It was not, however, ultimately included in the exhibition.
