Description

  • Bernd and Hilla Becher
  • 'BLAST FURNACES'
  • gelatin silver prints
a sequence of 9 photographs, each ferrotyped, mounted, titled and numbered sequentially, and the first signed, titled, and annotated with a sequence map, in pencil on the reverse, each framed, 1963-70 (Blast Furnaces, pp. 36, 38, 39, 46, 48, 49, 52, and 132) (9)

Condition

These ferrotyped prints, trimmed by the photographers to the image, are in generally very good condition. As is frequently seen with ferrotyped prints, occasional pitting of the glossy surface is visible overall. There is minor edge wear, with miniscule losses of emulsion at the edges, and the print corners are bumped. Some of the prints are trimmed slightly irregularly. On a few prints, small deposits of original retouching are visible.
